AIESEC Press Release
English Language Services (ELS) Oman announced today that it is partnering with
AIESEC, the world’s largest student organization, to implement an innovative internship program that seeks to bring new development opportunities to youth and enhance leadership skills in local and international students.
This partnership provides ELS with the opportunity to access international talent through AIESEC, which offers over 7,500 leadership positions to its members each year, while creating an innovative way to empower local youth by enabling them to have work experience alongside the ELS management team in Muscat. Additionally, it enables ELS to partner with an organization that aims to develop local talent to meet future business needs. As a pledge to enhancing the learning needs of youth, ELS has become an official partner of AIESEC Oman.
Corporate Business Development Manager Lina S Ali said, “This partnership with AIESEC will provide us with the opportunity to impact and empower the next generation of global leaders through providing an international living and working experience. Additionally, any organization requires employees with drive, energy and commitment to achieve success. AIESEC provides us with the opportunity to access this type of talent.”
The first participant of this program, which is available in 1100 universities in 105 countries, is 25 year old Juanita Kwarteng, a graduate from Canada. The internship has provided her with a valuable work experience where she coordinates activities in teaching, marketing, and curriculum development. “The internship has been an incredible experience as I have had the opportunity to learn about a new culture, grow personally, and develop professionally. I have gained first hand working experience in the educational sector as well as in marketing and public relations. This internship has been an essential part of my development”, said Juanita Kwarteng.
AIESEC is new to the Sultanate, as it was established in 2007, but it has been empowering international youth for over 60 years with the ultimate objective of providing positive leadership to society. Ten countries in the Middle East- North Africa region add to the global network of over 105 countries where AIESEC is present.
ELS, which is Oman’s largest English language provider, hopes to continue with this innovative partnership. Interns are offered training, expenses, and salary paid for by the company. “The new perspective and ideas that have been contributed by Juanita has been of enormous value to ELS. We are commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and appreciate this great opportunity that AISEC had brought to Oman” said Mike Ison, ELS Muscat Center Director. |
